What Is Pilates?
The Pilates method is performed in a sequence, either on a floor mat or on specially designed spring resistant equipment and includes more than 500 specifically designed movements. The movements require centering, control, concentration, flow, breath, and precision for efficiency and fluidity. Muscle control, coordination, and balance, are integrated with strength, stability, flexibility and breathing, which makes the Pilates method the perfect workout for all ages and fitness levels.
"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness."
- Joseph Pilates, founder and creator of the Pilates Method, originally termed Contrology

Group equipment sessions are not recommended for those with injuries or mobility restrictions. Advance online registration required. Class is subject to cancellation if less than two participants are registered 12 hours ahead of the scheduled class time.
STORMI TRUESDELL - Movement, consistency, motivation, and discipline... all elements of Stormi’s approach as a student, instructor, and teacher. In 2006, after leaving her first official mat class, Stormi was immediately intrigued by the Joseph Pilates method and began her career as a Power Pilates Instructor/Teacher Trainer.
Stormi, a native Texan, was driven to dance prior to learning to walk and has never stopped. By age 10, under the mentorship of Joyce Seaborne Bader, Stormi solely focused on classical foundations, progressing with Distinction through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). During this time she was granted scholarships to the American Academy of Ballet and captured leading roles with Fort Worth/Dallas Ballet, directed by Paul Mejia.
Observing the longstanding benefits of Pilates’ classical, systematic, and integrative approach and Vbarre’s shared philosophy, Stormi believes she has chosen the best of two fitness worlds. Her joy is derived from sharing her love of movement, continuing life as a student, and enabling clients and teachers to not achieve, but surpass their fitness goals.
Power Pilates System I (2007) | Comprehensive (2008) | Teacher Trainer (2014)
and Vbarre Instructor (2012) | Teacher Trainer (2014).
SHIRAZ QADDOUMI - Shiraz became determined to pursue her Pilates certification directly after experiencing her very first mat class. She is comprehensively trained through Power Pilates under master trainers Stormi Truesdell and Veronica Combs, who instilled in her a solid classical foundation and deep understanding of the healing power of movement. She is passionate about Pilates being for Every Body, and recognizes how to meet clients exactly where they are for a truly individualized session every time.
Her delight in movement began at an early age when she began figure skating at five years old. At eighteen she started ballroom dancing, with a focus on swing and salsa. She is also certified in TRX. Shiraz is an alumna of St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM, where she studied western philosophy, and is also a lifelong violinist with a deep appreciation for all the arts. She adores reading, movie theaters, dessert, and her menagerie of pets.
Shiraz has been teaching for three-and-a-half years and loves seeing her clients' faces light up as they realize they have became stronger and more mobile than they ever thought possible.
JULIA BUCKELEW - Julia was born and raised in the culturally rich city of New Orleans. Her family was immensely involved in supporting the performing arts of theater, dance, and music. Julia inherited her love of dance from her grandmother, who studied under Martha Graham. Many of her childhood memories are of spending time with her grandmother as she worked on productions at Le Petit Theatre, The New Orleans Ballet, and the New Orleans Opera. These special times ignited her lifelong passion for the performing arts. Her love of dance was forged when, as a young girl, she saw an early production of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake onstage at London’s Westend. As an athlete herself, she respected the strength, discipline, control and grace required of dancers.
Focusing on her love of dance, movement, and her passion for health and wellness, Julia received a Bachelor of Science degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University; and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. She is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Her clinical work as a Physical Therapist is now focused on the treatment of athletes and dancers. Julia has worked alongside dancers from Bruce Wood Dance, SMU, Booker T. Washington, Elite Classical Coaching, The DASH Academy, The Dallas Conservatory, Texas Ballet Theater, and Plano Dance Theater. Julia is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine Science and stays up to date on the most recent research to educate dancers on ways to stay healthy as they perform and recover from injuries.
Julia is a Physical Therapist by trade, but a dancer at heart. Her passion and respect for the art and performance of dance has led her to expand her practice to include wellness and performance enhancement services for performing artists. She offers training with special emphasis on injury risk reduction. Julia is experienced in working with many different types of dancers of all ages, ranging from professional to recreational. She enjoys helping people maximize their mobility, strength, balance, function, and performance ability through exercise and movement strategies.

Classical Pilates turned out to be the piece of the puzzle she has been searching for with focus on precision and proper alignment of the spine.
Alisa is comprehensively trained through Power Pilates under master trainer Stormi Truesdell, and is constantly working on continuing her education. She is passionate about transforming clients’ workout routine while focusing on building and improving strength, stamina, stretch and stability.
